The Death of Superman
Witness the day Metropolis stood still
Movie Details
Plot
Superman is a well-known superhero throughout Metropolis and around the globe. He takes some of Intergang’s technology to S.T.A.R. after he foils an attempted kidnapping of the mayor. Labs are used for analysis. After this, Superman is interviewed about his family history and how he got to Earth by Lois Lane, a Daily Planet journalist. Lois later that night meets Clark Kent’s adoptive parents (Superman’s human identity, which Lois does not know). Lois is upset by Clark’s private life and decides to reconsider their relationship.
S.T.A.R. Labs Dr Silas Stone and Dr John Irons inspect the Intergang attack technology and confirm that it is Apokoliptian [N1]. This leaves Superman suspecting that Lex Luthor, his archenemy, was involved in the Intergang supply. Luthor is currently under arrest by the government, but Superman remains suspicious. Astronauts Hank Henshaw and Terri Henshaw are in space when a meteorite suddenly enters their orbit. Their ship is damaged by the meteor, which kills Terri and their crew. Hank’s fate remains unknown. After the meteor crashes into the ocean, Lex Luthor dispatches a submarine crew to investigate the situation while the Atlanteans do theirs. The Atlanteans and sub crew are attacked by a large, enclosed being who rages across the country without warning.
Clark tells Lois that he is Superman at a Superman fan restaurant. The unknown entity continues its march toward Metropolis, attacking everyone and everything it can until the Justice League arrives. The being nearly kills Wonder Woman and leaves many League members with injuries. Superman is able to stop it. The creature emerges from its suit, revealing itself to be a grey-skinned, white-haired monster with extraordinary strength, stamina and invulnerability. Lois calls the creature “Doomsday”, and it attacks Superman. Superman struggles with it. Superman and Doomsday fight in a fierce battle through Metropolis, which leaves Superman exhausted and wounded. Superman flew at full speed towards the monster when he sees Lois and struck a blow that snapped Doomsday’s neck. This ended the monster’s violent rampage. Superman wins but is then stabbed in his chest. Lois dies while Jimmy Olsen records this heartbreaking scene.
The Kents hold a state funeral for Superman in the aftermath. Lois is then welcomed into their family by the Kents. Later, Jimmy takes Lois back with him to Superman’s Memorial. The coffin is empty, and the world watches as a figure resembling Superman flees.
Mid- and post-credits scenes [N2] show how a Superman-clone survives many failed experiments by LexCorp. Dr Irons is seen making his Superman suit out of steel. Superman’s rocket crashes into the North Pole, creating the Fortress of Solitude. A Superman-like Cyborg is seen flying through space towards Earth.
